I finished this book in one sitting-couldn’t put it down. I related a lot to the days of old. It is filled with compassionate moments of characters, laughter and tears, and a very satisfying ending. I highly recommend this excellent read! … Jess

Rucksack Grunt

Rucksack Grunt is a well written, fast paced account of one man’s journey from small town Pennsylvania to the deadly hills of the Central Highlands of South Vietnam, during the later years of the U.S. involvement in Southeast Asia. The author vividly describes life as a grunt, as well as the political climate, both at home and in the military as his journey takes him full circle. Well done Mr. Kuhn.“… Joe

In his book, Rucksack Grunt, Robert Kuhn states that war is 99% boredom and 1% sheer terror and insanity. He does a great job of describing both as he takes us through his nearly two years of military service, including a tour in Vietnam as an infantryman. This fast paced ‘memoir’ reads like a novel as you turn each page, experiencing what Bob went through during those years. I applaud him for sharing his story with the world... Larry

Dear Bob, I read your book cover to cover. When I read the Preface, a stunningly accurate and succinct beginning, that’s all it took to engage in reading one page and then the next. Your writing style made it easy to relate to and understand your personal emotions and reflections. I laud you for your candid reflections, some of which have commonality for all who served in Nam. Thank you for presenting such an engaging reflection on one chapter of your life, certainly a formative chapter that helped you become the person you are today... Thanks for an extremely gratifying read! As for your book – Superb!!  You said more than what any other author has offered, because you made it real and not-boastful or braggartly!  We had a mission, we did it and we survived – or so we thought.  For many Vets, it severely, even drastically, altered and changed our lives forever.  Again – Thanks for a great read and some fantastic flashbacks and memories.John.

Project XS11

Great read for us Yamaha Gearheads that have the passion to get these great bikes from the 70’s and early 80’s on the road again. Many of the authors trials and tribulations are exactly what many have experienced and Robert details it with wit and humor. The Yamaha XS, XJ bikes are still a blast to ride and this book is a classic for all the Yamaha owners to read. Lots of PICTURES which keeps the book engaging. If you like a good read on reviving Older motorcycles,,,GET this book!… Mike.

Bob has written a chatty collection of stories about his efforts to fix up myriad bikes in pursuit of the elusive Midnight Special. There are some valuable lessons learned if you like to fiddle with older bikes. The stories are told more as if you were standing around having a beer and listening to the trials and tribulations. Easy read yet filled with some interesting nuggets for the bike tinkering type. RecommendedGlen

Great book, just finished it last night. Thank you Robert for writing a masterpiece. Lots of pics and how to articles that you won’t find in a repair manual. With this book and the Haynes manual I expect them to be a big help with my winter bike project... Fly (Xs11.club)
